- Move off
The examiner will ask you do this on numerous occasions during your test. One of those occasions may be for this maneouvre. Avoid parking over driveways, on sharp bends, or opposite a junction. Apply the handbrake, and select neutral.
Check your interior mirror, right mirror, and check your blind spot. You don't have to indicate, because the road should be clear.
Steer as fast as possible to a right lock, maintaining walking pace. When nearing the oppoiste kerb, make one full turn to the left. This is to assist you in the next stage. Continue checking for traffic. Then stop the car.
Ensure you have the bite point so that car does not roll forward onto the kerb. Look left, and look right, do this twice. If clear, move backward and steer to full left lock. Switch your observation points between the rear window, and checking for oncoming vehicles.
At the halfway point, your priority is looking over your right shoulder to observe the kerb you are approaching. You don't want to mount the kerb. On approach, turn one full turn to the right. Again, this if for ease later. Apply the handbrake.
Select first gear, and ensure that both ways are clear of oncoming traffic. Move off, steering to the right. This will guide you back to the left hand side of the road.
